{"id":308,"date":"2016-02-10T09:52:18","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T09:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/doceng2016.caa.tuwien.ac.at\/?page_id=308"},"modified":"2016-06-15T11:49:45","modified_gmt":"2016-06-15T11:49:45","slug":"doctoral-consortium","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/doceng2016.cvl.tuwien.ac.at\/?page_id=308","title":{"rendered":"Doctoral Consortium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the fourth time, we will have a Doctoral Consortium at the ACM\u00a0Symposium on Document Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Doctoral students in their second year or later present their\u00a0dissertation project and will get feedback from a panel of senior\u00a0researchers as well as from the general audience. This session is\u00a0intended to provide a venue for student researchers in Document\u00a0Engineering to present their work. It will provide constructive criticism\u00a0and help doctoral students in formulating their research question,\u00a0deciding about methods and approaches to use, and creating further\u00a0ideas. ProDoc@DocEng is a good place to learn about how to conduct a\u00a0dissertation project and to learn about leading edge research.<\/p>\n<p>ProDoc@DocEng will take place during the Symposium as a special\u00a0session. Each participant will be allocated 10 minutes for\u00a0presentation, followed by feedback and questions. Additionally,\u00a0mentors will be responsible for providing feedback to students and\u00a0preparing in-depth comments and questions for individual meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Participants of ProDoc@DocEng register for DocEng 2015 and will thus\u00a0be able to attend all sessions of the Symposium. You can read about\u00a0previous consortia in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/citation.cfm?id=2749281&amp;CFID=617954454&amp;CFTOKEN=35506008\" target=\"_blank\">ACM SIGWEB Spring 2015 newsletter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Participation in ProDoc@DocEng is independent of any regular paper\u00a0submission&#8212;you can both have a regular paper and take part in the\u00a0Doctoral Consortium or take part in the Doctoral Consortium without\u00a0presenting a regular paper\/poster.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits of Participation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All accepted proposals will be presented in a special session giving\u00a0students an opportunity to present their work to a large and diverse\u00a0audience.<\/li>\n<li>Each participant will receive feedback and mentorship from\u00a0experienced researchers in the field based on the topic of their\u00a0submission.<\/li>\n<li>Participants will be eligible to apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/doceng2016.cvl.tuwien.ac.at\/?page_id=325\">Student Travel Awards<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Submission Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submissions must be made electronically in PDF format by <del>May 23, 2016<\/del>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><del>June 06, 2016<\/del> (closed)<\/span>,\u00a011:59\u00a0p.m. AOE, via the <a href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/conferences\/?conf=doceng2016\" target=\"_blank\">EasyChair conference system<\/a>. Submissions must not\u00a0exceed two pages and must conform to the ACM SIG Proceedings format.<\/p>\n<p>The language of the consortium is English. All submissions must be in\u00a0English. There will be no publication for ProDoc@DocEng in the\u00a0proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>State the working title and your name and your affiliation or\/and\u00a0employer in the header.<\/p>\n<p>State your main supervisor, your academic background (i.e., what kind\u00a0of MA or MSc you obtained before, or what you are working on at the\u00a0moment), when you started your PhD studies and when your thesis is\u00a0planned to be completed. If your institution has certain rules with\u00a0respect to the duration of PhD studies or internal and external\u00a0readers, please add this information. Please also note if you are\u00a0looking for a second\/third supervisor\/reader.<\/p>\n<p>Then, describe your dissertation project including your research\u00a0question, related work, and the current status of your work (i.e.,\u00a0preliminary ideas, proposed approach, and results achieved so far).<\/p>\n<p>If you have already published on your topic, give references.<\/p>\n<p>(Skip abstract and categories, and start with information on your\u00a0supervisor and personal background instead.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Review Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every submission will be reviewed by two members of the ProDoc@DocEng\u00a0panel.
